Twitter 101: Twitter Cards and interactive Tweet formats

Use Twitter Cards and interactive Tweet formats to go beyond text, images, and video and help your Tweets stand out from the crowd.

Tweets with an interactive element can help engage fans and followers, spark conversation, and prompt people to visit your website, provide feedback, or help spread the word about your latest initiative, match, or release. In this article we take you through some of the formats that can be found within ads.twitter.com, including Video Website Cards, Media Polls, Conversational Cards, and Tweet to Unlock Cards.

Video Website Card

Website Cards are a great way to help drive audiences back to your site using images, GIFs, and video images. The Video Website Card in particular offers a flexible and creative way to pair the power of video with the ability to drive users back to your site.

Creating a Video Website Card

Prior to Tweeting a Video Website Card you will need to create the card itself in the Twitter Ads dashboard.

  1. Go to ads.twitter.com
  2. Within the navigation bar, select “Creatives” and then “Cards”
  3. Within the Cards library select “Create Card” and then “Video Website Card”
  4. Upload your video, add a headline, include your website URL, and a card name. Create your card.
  5. Once the card is created  it will be added to your Card Library
  6. Roll over your card and click the Tweet icon to draft a Tweet for your Video Website Card.

Tweet to Unlock Card

Tweet to Unlock Cards are a powerful way for partners to share exclusive content with fans while also enticing them to help drive conversation. Utilize compelling images, calls to action, and hashtags to incentivize followers and reveal special access to content such as a Q&A or album artwork, once their Tweet is sent.

Media Polls

Media Polls are a great way to engage with followers by adding a poll question alongside your videos and images. Creating a Media Poll

  1. Go to ads.twitter.com and select the Tweet Compose button in the top right.
